These packaging’s need to be of best quality and integrity and must be
perfectly leakage free. The manufacturers need
to ensure that their products will remain safe in the packaging materials that they

A majorly used method of testing
the integrity of the packaging method is through vacuum leak test. The vacuum
leak test uses a high value of vacuum to
analyze the leakage in a given sample. For the plastic pouches, there is a
desiccator used in which there is vacuum developed. The specimen is placed in
the desiccator. When the vacuum is developed, the sample is either compressed, or there is no compression
in the test sample. In a plastic pouch, when there is a leakage in the sample, then
it will be compressed whereas in the PET bottles, if there is no leakage, then
the sample will be compressed. With the help of this test method, one can
easily determine the presence of any type of pin holes or any other leakage
present in the packaging.
