The peel strength of the laminates used in different industries is a very important aspect that affects the efficiency of the laminates in the application where they are used. The laminates are prepared by joining two or more layers of different materials with different properties. For example in the packaging industries, the laminates are prepared for manufacturing multilayered packaging. To ensure that the laminates stay at their place, it is essential that they have appropriate peel adhesion strength. In order to ensure the best strength, the peel strength test is conducted on the laminates. The test is commenced with the help of a peel strength tester.
In the peel strength test, a
sample is taken and the adhesive portion of the laminate is delaminated from
one end. Once delaminated, one end of the specimen is placed in one member of
the grip and the second end is placed in
the second member of the grip. After that, the grips are taken apart. This
applies a tensile force on the specimen causing it to peel. The force applied
to the specimen is recorded in the load
indicator. This force applied to the specimen gives the peel strength of the specimen.
Key Features of Presto’s Peel Strength Tester
1. Electronic
force measurement.
2. Peak
load Indicator with 9 test readings in Peak Load Memory.
3. Facility
of performing the test at both 900 for peel and 1800 for
seal angle of force application.
1. The
maximum load exerting capacity of the machine is 20 kgf.
2. The
instrument has a least count of 2 grams.
3. The
power requirements of the machine are 220
volts 50 Hz. AC
4. Properly
serrated grippers are provided with the instrument for prevention of slippage
of the specimen.
With the help of the peel strength tester, the manufacturers of laminated packaging materials can easily determine the peel strength of the
products in different conditions and then ensure the best products delivered to
the cutworms.
